Let’s All Share a Meal – Resources for your Spanish Classroom

Each family has their own family traditions during the holiday. That’s what makes this time of year so special. Whether your traditions include gathering the family together over presents and a meal or avoiding family and spending the holiday alone, there is a tradition involved. So I thought it would be nice for your students to share a little piece of their family traditions in a visual presentation.

There are only three requirements for this project:

  • First, students must create a visual presentation for their project about what they do and what they eat during the holiday season.
  • Second, students must write a one-page paper to explain their visual presentation.
  • Third, students must present their presentations to the class.

Students have so many options for this project, but the point is for them to express themselves in a manner that represents who they are as a person, their family influences, and their knowledge of the foreign language. Give students the following options to assist them in the organization of their visual presentations.

They Want Cross Curricular Connections? We’ve Got Connections! – Resources for your Spanish Classroom.

Foreign language teachers have always had to defend the necessity of their programs to their school districts. People view foreign languages as elective, not a requirement. Well, with almost 40 million Hispanic people living in the United States, I think Spanish language acquisition is just as important as English language acquisition. So to prove how Latino culture can pour into other aspects of education, I offer you a connection to Chemistry.
